[Review] My Cooking Day at Mama Noi: From Organic Farm to Table!
Hello everyone! Just got back from my trip to Chiang Mai and I had to share this experience. If you’re looking for something to do other than visiting temples, you have to try a cooking school. After reading a ton of reviews, I picked Mama Noi and it was such a vibe.
Why Mama Noi?
I was traveling with a friend who is a strict vegetarian, so finding a place that could do both was key. She wanted a real Vegetarian Cooking Class Chiang Mai. Most places just give you extra tofu and call it a day, but here they actually taught her how to balance the flavors without using fish sauce or shrimp paste.
The Market & The Farm
We started the morning at a local market. Our teacher was so funny and showed us how to pick the best chilies. Then we went to their organic farm. It’s so peaceful there! We got to walk around the garden and see where all the herbs come from before we started cooking.
Cooking (and Eating!)
I made the Khao Soy and Pad Thai. I’ve tried making Pad Thai at home before, but it never tasted like this. Doing it from scratch, including the curry paste, makes such a huge difference.
For my friend, Our Cooking Class Chiang Mai experience was just as good. She made a vegetarian Tom Yum that was so flavorful I actually liked it more than the original!
What I loved:
- The kitchen is super clean and open-air (great for photos!).
- They give you a cookbook at the end.
- Free pick-up and drop-off from the hotel.
- The staff speaks great English and they are very patient.
Pro tip: Don’t eat breakfast before you go. You will be cooking and eating 4-5 different dishes. I was so full I could barely walk back to the van!
If you’re in town, seriously, check out this Cooking Class Chiang Mai. It’s worth every Baht! 🍜🌶️
